DG: In your book ‘Purple Cow’ you argue that organisations need to provide products and services that get talked about. Is this the sole responsibility of the marketing department?
SG: My position is that the WHOLE company is the marketing department. Hiring, for example, is a marketing act. Not just the way you do it, but who you hire as well.
DG: So how can an organization encourage its people to be remarkable?
SG: The very same way they encourage people to not steal or to give a speech or anything else that might be difficult. It's mostly about deciding that it is important and rewarding it and expecting it
