After three years of heading the Campaign for Learning, Susie Parsons has announced that she will be standing down as chief executive in May to return to management consultancy.
Speaking of her time at the Campaign, she said: "It has been a great privilege to lead the campaign’s staff team and I am very proud of our achievements and grateful for the wonderful backing we have had from our Board of Trustees."
During her time as chief executive, the Campaign says it has made great advances in the field of lifelong learning.
The charity's flagship workplace campaign, Learning at Work Day, now involves around a million employees each year and the Making Learning Work action-research project is providing important insights into how best to engage people with low levels of skills. The Campaign's Learning to Learn action-research project in primary and secondary schools has made some exceptional discoveries over the last three years, exploring how schools can develop effective, confident lifelong learners.
Chair of the Campaign for Learning Mike Leibling is delighted with the direction Susie Parsons has taken the Campaign in her three-year term as Chief Executive. He said: "Susie's energy has been fantastic, and her achievements at the Campaign have been extraordinary. I'm naturally sad to see her move on at the end of her term and wish her enormously well."
Taking over the Campaign will be Linda Siegle as the new chief executive and Tricia Hartley, as her deputy. Linda and Tricia are currently the Campaign’s regional directors for the South and North of England respectively. Susie Parsons believes they can steer the Campaign to bigger and better things. She said: "Although I am sad to be leaving the Campaign, I am glad to leave it in such capable hands."
