Disability charity Leonard Cheshire is set to introduce a new flexible learning programme for its volunteers.
The charity said it designed the programme in response to the problem of balancing the need to train volunteers, with the need for volunteers to find the time for that training.
Training materials will combine traditional printed packs, interactive videos and online training modules available via the Internet to enable volunteers to train in their own homes, on their way to work or at any other time to suit each person's needs.
Barclays has supported the programme to the tune of £25,000 and the bank's employees will form part of the test team to ensure that the new materials are simple to use, informative and provide a fun way to learn how to be a better volunteer.
