Christine Little to Leave the Recruitment and Employment Confederation

default-16x9

Christine Little has confirmed that she will be leaving the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) when her contract ends on September 14, 2000. Following the creation of the REC in February, Christine agreed to help with the transition process from FRES and IEC, as well as to play a central role in corporate affairs issues.

The REC Council has asked Christine to continue to represent the UK as the REC expert on the European dialogue, which started in Brussels in June and may lead to a directive on temporary work in the UK, which will be binding here in the UK. Throughout her time as both Chief Executive of FRES and External Relations Director at the REC, Christine has been heavily involved with shaping the industry's campaign to influence the Government's proposals for the Employment Agencies Act Regulations - although it is unlikely that the DTI will make any final announcement prior to her departure.

"Every single individual in the team has played a vital role in FRES, the IEC and now REC," said Christine. "I leave behind me a highly skilled top team who will lead the industry forward confidently through the challenges that lie ahead, including continuing the REC's representation to Government on the new regulations. I shall of course miss working with the team, and also with the contacts I have made throughout my 25 years in the recruitment industry - all of whom have been tremendously supportive."

Recruitment is under way for a new Head of External Relations, and in the interim this function will be headed up by Tim Nicholson, supported by the existing External Relations Team.

"Christine has made a unique and highly valuable contribution to the recruitment industry, which has been felt most acutely in the enormous amount of work she has put in to achieving our corporate affairs objectives," said Tim Nicholson, Chief Executive of REC. "I am delighted that the REC will benefit from Christine's expertise in the European social dialogue, and look forward to taking the team forward from here."
