The central theme of this year's CIPD conference at Harrogate is 'People Mean Business', but what does this actually mean?

Conference speakers will be covering a number of topics over the next three days, designed to explore ideas around recruitment and retention of key employees, the challenges of motivating staff and winning their commitment. With HR facing 'huge challenges', sessions will look at how women get on within the workplace (Dame Stella Rimmington, former Director-General of MI5), how to keep 'high flyers' interested, how the way people are managed can impact on business performance (Ruth Spellman, Investors in People UK) and managing talent. The conference will also be looking at how the impact of artifical intelligence will affect the workplace.
