Our community project serves a highly deprived city suburb, and local people generally exhibit low levels of self-esteem, education and emotional intelligence. However, they are gradually coming to see that all of that can change, and are wanting to become active in pushing for improvements in their community.
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions regarding basic training for this type of client group, possibly including the following elements: assertiveness, confidence building, communication, listening skills, anger management, decision making, and presentation skills.
Literacy levels among the group are currently being worked on, but material would still need to be as jargon-free as possible.
