Communities of Interest/Learning Communities

default-16x9

I am working on a paper around Communities or Interest / Learning Communities, does anyone know of any good sites / papers / documents / presentations around this?

Google gives lots of results but it is somewhat like finding a needle in a haystack.

Also looking for best practice/companies who do this already where we could learn from.

You are right, there is a lot around this. In terms of literature I’d start with Lave and Wenger. You don’t say whether this paper is for a qualification or what other purpose, nor what specific aspect you are interested in, so it is hard to recommend anything more specific.
You also don’t say what sector or type of organisation you work for so it is hard to suggest which organisation may be best to learn from. But in the absence of that, I’d recommend:
    http://www.communities.idea.gov.uk
More generally, for access to lots of useful information and links on all aspects of Knowledge Management I’d recommend David Gurteen’s site at http://www.gurteen.com (look for communities of practice under the categories tab)
    Hope that helps
