Community Roundup – January

default-16x9

It’s been a busy first month of 2013 here on TrainingZone. It looks like everyone has had a chance to get used to the new site and it’s all running well (do let us know if you spot any bugs – we’ve got our eyes on a few that are in the process of being fixed). This is also our first roundup of the highlights from January to show off some of the most interesting and talked-about content on the site.

It’s been great to see so many people blogging this month. After the closure of discussion groups, our focus is on using the blog feature to make sure that everyone who wants to lead a discussion and share their ideas can do so as easily as possible. Here are some of our recent favourites.

Email is on everyone’s mind, largely as it’s so hard to avoid! Emailogic shared some startling facts, revealing that 77% of us are self-confessed email “obsessives”. As they say, handling this level of distraction is key. A new blog this month from Monica Seeley covers the best ways to improve your performance through smarter email management and is off to a brilliant start with the ongoing Clean Out Your Inbox Week series. If you can’t go a few minutes without checking your inbox, it’s an excellent source for helpful tips.

Of course, managing your inbox also helps reduce stress. If you’re finding it tough to keep up elsewhere, consciouspro’s latest blog post takes a look at an alternative solution – meditation. In it, he lists the key benefits that focusing on relaxing and reducing stress can help any business.

Your comments on blogs have also been a brilliant addition – russlater’s point about the term “broken record” becoming an anachronism made us smile. Rus’ most recent blog post is also our current Editor’s Pick – something we do to highlight the most recent thought provoking content from the TZ community. If you spot a great post orhave an idea for one, you can always let us know.

Your Any Answers questions have also raised some interesting discussions this month. Topics including handling call listening in training sessions, putting together an effective presentation, and facing the daunting task of training the trainers have all sparked fascinating debate and excellent advice from many points of view.

As always, we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who takes the time to share their thoughts and spread advice on the site. We hope you enjoy the site and find it useful too. If you ever have an idea for a post, blog or question and want to talk to us about it, don’t hesitate to send us a message through the site.

See you all next month!
