Setting up a forum

default-16x9

I am interested in meeting up with trainers/Learning and Development Managers who, like me wish to improve their skills.

My thoughts are to informally; maybe once every 6-8 weeks meet to discuss L&D good practice, current challenges, issues or views. This would be an informal learning group and perhaps we can grab a drink and/or a meal as this will probably be one evening after work? I currently work in Stanmore, North London and live in St Neots, Cambridgeshire - so a group at one of these locations would be ideal.

If you are, like me, looking to share knowledge and expertise and learn from the experience - contact me now. I am happy to organise the venue and timings and keep contact details private until we agree how to proceed at the first meeting. I envisage a group of 4 - 6 people to make this workable.

regards,

Robert Parker

  1. Another place to ask ..
Hi Robert, have you checked out Trainerbase? They also have groups scattered around the country and you might one which covers your geographical area. 🙂

  2. Setting Up A Forum
    Hi Robert,

Local CIPD groups sometimes have special interest groups for L and D people.

I have a group on Linked In – Trainer Talk

    http://www.linkedin.com/groups?about=&gid=1783222&trk=fupd

Although it’s an online forum at present there are lots of great people on there who are very happy to provide information which will help you to improve your skills. And I have plans later in the year to do some face to face networking with thegroup.

    Hope this helps,

    Sharon

  3. online and offline groups, events and forums..
http://www.trainertalk.co.uk is a free network and promotional site for trainers and facilitators where there are both online networks avaliable and the place to promtoe and set up offline networks and group meetings/events. Trainers and facilitators vary in their geographical areas and also in their training/facilitation fields.

Its completeley free and really easy to use, simply sign up, start a forum, post up an event (which gets featured on the homepage) and you will be able to contact other trainers looking for groups to join.

If you have your own training business it’s also really good for SEO and has really been helping trainers get their business and personal profile high in the search engines

    here’s the link:

    Enjoy!!

  4. Why not start an on-line network on TrainingZone?
If you get in touch, I can easily set one up for you. You can choose whether you’d like this to be an open or closed group – ie anyone can join, you’d like to approve membership, or even set up an invitation only group. You can also run it privately on site, so that no-one other than its members would see any details.

This may help get a group going – so you can discuss issues of interest in between meeting up. Just a thought!

    Kind regards
