Has anybody got a course on Confidence Building or Assertiveness? I have been asked to design and run one, but don't have a clue where to start.
Any help would really be appreciated.

Given your description of your situation I’m intrigued to know “Why You?”
This seems to be a not uncommon occurance in the training area, and I’m trying to compile a list of reasons why people are being assigned tasks they aren’t obviously best suited to perform.
Is it cost cutting, corner cutting, a misapprehension of what it takes to create a course, any combination thereof, or what?
Check out Albert

As a more direct answer to your question, may I suugest that you check out Albert Bandura’s work on “self-efficacy”. There’s a wealth of free material on the internet. Emory University, in particular has masses of material, links, etc. See:

Good luck
Material for Confidence Building
A book called ‘Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway’ by Susan Jeffers will inspire you. You will get some good material and ideas for your course. If you send me your email address I’ll send you some more suggestions. helen.senior@cpc.co.uk

I’ve developed a half day Assertiveness training package complete with trainer’s notes, presentation slides and workbooks which I’ve developed for people who are called to deliver training but are not experienced trainers themselves.
