Confidence in selling

default-16x9

Does any have any suggestions for training techniques to help develop the confidence of young staff working in catering to have the confidence to up-sell when customers are placing an order with them?

It seems to be something alot shy away from even when there is the offer of earning good money through bonuses that are linked to sales.

  1. Hope I can help
    Hi Zoe : )

Personally I find that an exercise that lets the group work out the “what’s in it for me” i.e. the benefits to themselves of upselling can work a treat.

  2. Young Learners
Young learners benefit from a lot of feedback, catch them doing a good job and tell them. Re-inforce best practice, seek suggestions from them as to how they can meet customer needs, praise them when they do. Confidence comes from doing things successfully, having positive outcomes and feeling good.

  3. Use their Strengths
You need to identify the strength of each person’s selling style to see what would help them.
If you want to contact me at david@gtiuk.com I will e-mail a model showing the styles and what training needs each style has. For example some of your people will be motivated by the money, some will need to be enthused about the add-on.
