Island of Opportunity
Linda, can I suggest having a look at Trainers’ Library (www.trainerslibrary.com). There are a number of exercises in there which might help you – in particular under the ‘Negotiation Category’ there is an exercise called Island of Opportunity, which is all about building an understanding of the other parties’ needs and interests and working through shared problems in order to avoid conflict. Hope this helps.
Happy to help
Hi Linda
I’ve done lots of work on conflict and i’d be happy to share my experiences. Although I haven’t used a video, I have used other activities – in particular i’ve found linking the theories around emotional intelligence and NLP works well in helping people to understand why they, and others, behave the way they do, especially in conflict situations. Ive also used value exercises to look at what may cause conflict, especially in the workplace.
If you’d like to talk through please feel free to contact me.
Kind regards
Kirsten
Conflict management role plays
I have successfully used the thiagi.com website conflict role plays (from the home page go into ‘freebies’ and then ‘training games’ then no. 16 ‘Fight Right’) to help illustrate some of the elements and mediation skills needed to manage conflict in the workplace (3 scenarios are presented). Fine to use as long as your credit the source and use less than 100 copies per year.
