I think I am being very dense!
I want to put some soundbites of conversation into a Powerpoint presentation; I can find all the "how to.." guides to actually PUT IN a sound file but I want to actually CREATE one from scratch, with a microphone (rather than a down load/copy from a CD etc).
Can anyone enlighten an idiot please?

Sound files
Hi Rus
Not sure if this is exactly what you need – but if nit you’ll probably find it somewhere on this site.

Thanks for your emails BTW.

record sound…
Hi Rus
The easiest way to record sound…
In Windows XP…
Start–>all programs–>accessories–>entertainment–>soundrecorder
and off you go…
Otherwise there are some free ‘sound studio’ software packages to help edit available – call me for more info..

Mike and Cathy, thanks to you both…..not withstanding the dust in the jack socket and a very cheap microphone I have now succeeded!
Sadly I have also discovered that the soundcard in my laptop is damaged so I can’t play the beautiful sounds I have recorded on my desktop!
Thanks Again

Sound advice
Rus
I frequently shout very loudly at the computer. I can’t say yet whether it has taken in what I have said, but it makes me feel better. As to getting it into powerpoint I hit the top of the screen. Although this has not quite worked so far I suspect I am not hitting it hard enough.
To send this to another user I lift the computer above my head and throw, preferably via an open window. I believe this is known as ‘windows explorer’.

thanks Graham!

I think your advice is very useful, especially in terms of stress management, thanks
