Hello Everyone,
Can anyone please shed any light on the DDT technique for writing training? I have been asked to write a training program using this format and have never come across it before. I would be grateful for any information anyone could share on this.
Many thanks in advance!
Kirsty

DDT

I’m a little wary of giving a definitive answer to this as some companies have there own acronyms. The only context I have come across DDT – Desktop Decision Training – design methods is in the military. I don’t know much about it but an example can be found at http://www.hfidtc.com/research/training/training-reports/phase-2/HFIDTC-2-4-6-2-1-decision-making-serious-games.pdf
If that is not the right DDT, let’s hope others can offer a suitable alternative

Ask?
Hi Kirsty
I would ask the person who has requested that you use this technique to explain it to you – or at least tell you what the letters stand for.
I appreciate it is sometimes difficult to admit we don’t know something, so how about saying this is a new technique for you and you would appreciate a bit of a steer in the right direction.
Good luck
Jenny
Thank you
Thank you both Jenny and Graham for your responses. I will go back and confirm with the person who asked me initially so I know I am on the right track!
DDT
Hi Kirsty
Could you come back and let us know what it stands for>
I’m guessing one of the D’s is Design?? Acronym geek can’t decide either so he could be making it up? http://www.acronymgeek.com/DDT
Thanks
Steve
the only one/nearest I’ve come across is…
Define…the level of skill or knowledge required
Diagnose….diagnose the curren actual level knowledge/skill
Deliver….deliver an intervention to fill the gap
Test…that the intervention has filled the gap and that the defined level required is now reached
I hope that helps

DDDDD
Hi Russ
But thats DDDT :-/
oh DDDDDDash it!
like I said Steve….."nearest"!
I love the acronyms club
Don’t you just love it when people use acronyms to make themselves feel more important and to put you down because you probably don’t understand – it’s like they think they’re in a select club.
