e learning qualifications – content creation

default-16x9

Hello All,

Could you please recommend an e learning qualification in relation to content design as well as covering the pedagogic aspects of the design as well as the actual physical creation?

Does such a thing exist?

Other practical tips / software recommendations would be welcomed too!

Many thanks!

  1. Various routes to elearning training

    Hi there

I personally haven't come across a qualification which covers all the various aspects on one that you're looking for in a qualification. So you might need to do a few different things to get the training you need:

For pedagogical aspects, a MA/diploma qualification might be something to consider (I completed this qualification a few years back so recommend it)

The CIPD (and no doubt other organisations) offer shorter courses/workshops on creating elearning materials

For software solutions – I take it you mean, elearning authoring tools? There are so many to choose from and many elearning software providers have an online community where they share hints, tips and you can ask questions about how to create various things. I would suggest, trialling a few different software for free and having a play with some dummy content.

There are also various free authoring tools you can use (see below links):

Hope this helps. If you need any help, do get back in touch. Be happy to help out.

  2. E-learning qualification COLF

Hello, the Learning and Performance Institute run a qualification that includes everything and more you are looking for called a Certified Online learning Facilitator. I completed this 18 months ago and use most aspects on a daily basis not just for online learning as most of it is good practice. I would recommend this it is totally online with a small cohort and can be tailored to your availability. All the best, Barry

  3. e learning qualifications

    Hi Stephie,

A number of the authoring tool suppliers also offer specific qualifications/courses in competence in a specific tool. (Assima, CourseBuilder etc). Some are more formally marketed than others, and some are on request.

It's good for the authoring tool companies as competent users drive use of their tool.

For organisations that specify an authoring tool it can be useful for designers//developers to be able to evidence competence/completion of courses in these tools.

it depends on your situation (and it doesn't tend to cover the nuances of Instructional design) but this type of thing can be a good waqy to show your ability.

Hope this slightly different angle is helpful…

  4. E-learning qualification COLF

    Hi

I also did the LPI's COLF course (last summer). It was a really good experience overall, with the exception of the lack of any feedback at the end. I chased up my report and was given excuses and promises but it never came. so my whole course feedback came down to "Pass". I do think it would cover the areas you want to cover, but it depends what depth you need.
