Emotional Intelligence

default-16x9

Hello everyone,
I'm currently putting together a new workshop to introduce people to EI - Emotional Intelligence - how it plays a part in our everyday lives, how we can understand it more, what it could mean to us in a work situation
Does anyone know of any great reference sites they have used, white papers, resources etc..
I have copies of EI by Daniel Goleman, and am ploughing through both books.
I'm looking at building a half-day introductory session to EI

many thanks in advance

  1. EQ
    Hi Buffy,

I ran a full day event a while back, based on exercises form The Emotional Intelligence Activity Book by Adele B Lynn (via amazon)It went down really well, The book also gives outlines of sessions to run for different outcomes i.e. EQ for developing Communication skills, for developing Team building, for developing interpersonal skills and so on.
Hope this helps, however you can mail me if you want any further info Lynnette

  2. More EI Activities
As well as the book mentioned earlier, the same author has another more recent book with 50 team activities for EI.

I have the second (newer) book and it’s good for placing EI in the context of work…and for a line manager to be able to facilitate too.

  3. A word of warning
Just to mention that there is currently a research project underway into the reliability and validity of EI as a theory. There are some indications that it might just be another unfounded fad. Of course, it is still early days, but bear in mind that not everyone is convinced that EI has a sound base, and it’s always worth reading the views of the naysayers when developing your materials.

  4. EI In Action
Got home and found another good source of activities, or “workouts” as they are called in this book, complete with timings, etc. and a CD-ROM with the handouts, ready to print.

Yes, in response to the last comment, it will be interesting to see how the theory stands up in the long run, but for now, I’m seeing a lot of interest in EI for salesforces and call centre teams.
