Employee Volunteering

default-16x9

Does anyone have any insight / experience of being involved with or developing an employee volunteering project?

I'm currently engaged in an EV project bridging between local government and the local community and would welcome insight from people/orgs who've been involved in this field before or might be currently involved.

I'm interested specifically in:

* developing EV schemes beyond current models.

* ensuring that communities can influence EV activity

Please reply through the forum, always great to share the flare and knowledge, I'd also like to email respondents direct as well if possible - thanks.

I’d be happy to share my experience with you – drop me an email.

Some good general sources of information:

http://www.employeevolunteering.org.uk is a good place to start

Your local Business in the Community ‘Cares’ office would also be able to offer ideas, advice and access to community networks: http://www.bitc.org.uk/programmes/programme_directory/cares/index.html

As you’ve mentioned local government, you could try contacting Carole Kincaid at Kent County Council: tel 01622 694844. Carole is responsible for the Council’s employee volunteering programme – she and I were involved in running an EV workshop at the European Volunteering Assembly last year.

    Best wishes

  2. Joint effort
We have a core committee comprising representatives from respective departments plus a pool of employee volunteers. Of course, HR takes the lead. The project activities are in two aspects, one to support company’s CSR initiatives and the other is to serve the community. For the latter, it’s the joint agreement of HR and the core committee on deciding what projects, which charities to serve. This is to encourage better buy-in from employees. All the planning is monitored by HR and core committee and the volunteers to execute. This model works well. Hope it helps.

    Cheers,

    Alice
