I would like to try and put some structure to our management training so that when managers have attended core courses as part of their role they achieve something. That something is what I am going to look at. In the first instance I am looking at management roles but would then like to look at other roles so they can build up their skills.
I wondered if any other members had looked into this and can advise on things to look out for? I may keep it informal within the company or look to gain external accreditation from ILM etc. We currently use a mix of internal and external training providers. Any suggestions welcome.
Many thanks

External accreditation
As an EV with ILM I can’t give you an unbiased view on this. But those of my Centres that have sought accreditation of their in-house courses (ILM calls them Endorsed Awards) have fallen into two categories:
those that have struggled with the tension of providing a transferable qualification
those that only see the advantages of attracting willing candidates rather than coerced ones
dipping into svqs…
Hi, I have recently been involved in piloting some inhouse courses as a joint venture between NHS and local authority, and we used the NHS SVQ centre to get accreditation for a single unit from the Business Admin course. The delegates were unlikely to have signed up for this particular SVQ but were pleased to have the opportunity to get formal accreditation for completing the course. It put more work on us, as we had to deliver, assess and submit portfolios but the evaluations have improved compared to the evaluations for short, non-accredited courses so it seems worthwhile. Let me know how things are progressing and what route you have decided to go down!
Kind regards,
Fiona.
