First annual report of the Training Standards Council

default-16x9

The Training Standards Council (TSC) has published the annual report of its first year of operations from 1 April 1998 until end of March 1999. The government funded TSC, which has the responsibility for the inspection of all work-based training in England, had begun its work some 18 months earlier following the publication of a consultative document by the Department of Education and Employment(DfEE).

The report highlights the achievement of the Council in setting up and establishing a professional organisation in double quick time. Just 23 weeks after the recruitment of its chief inspector and chief executive, David Sherlock, the first inspection was begun on the 5 May 1998. By the end of the period covered by the report, a further 400 inspections had been completed and the TSC had established its credentials as a respected and objective inspection organisation.
