Flying south for the Winter ?

default-16x9

Unexpectedly I find myself with the opportunity to work more widely afield and a short contract for a few months anywhere warm seems attractive. However, a couple of hours combing some of the recruitment agency websites like Hudsons and Michael Page isn't yielding much. Neither are the likes of Changeboard much good for this.

Anyone got any suggestions for other sources ? My background is that I've got 20+ years experience in L&D, coaching & OD, working up to Board level. The location isn't important; I like new experiences !

Thanks in anticipation,

Peter

  1. Freelance or permanent?
Hi Peter – I know of a couple of people searching for freelancers in the UAE at the moment if you want to send me your e-mail address I’ll happily forward it to them.

If you’re looking for permanent work there are a lot of job boards serving the gulf naukri.com, bayt.com, monster.com (gulf version) and so on…

The work is tax free and there’s plenty of opportunity and it’s winter here now – and the weather is great! Summer is a whole different matter though.

  2. How about Australia?
    Hi Peter

I’ll email you the contact details of someone I know in Australia. She used to work with me here in the UK, took a holiday in Oz and never came back!

  3. Confusion?
Hi Annabel do you want to work in the UAE or do you want to work in Bahrain – as they are two separate countries separated by a time zone.

There aren’t much in the way of training specific organisations out this way, and more in the UAE and very little in Bahrain (as it’s a very small country).

Check the job boards recommended at the bottom of the posting by me for contract work and permanent roles.

It’s much better to get a job before you come as work is not a guarantee in this part of the world – though I haven’t found it very difficult.

Remember to take into account the tax laws – if you only want to stay a few months you may find yourself liable for tax on all your tax free money when you head back to the UK.

  4. Confusion indeed !
    Nik,

who is Annabel ?!! Please find my email address below as per your first entry.

    Thanks, Peter

  5. Indeed
It appears that Annabel deleted her post – making me look slightly mad…

Anyway Peter I’ve forwarded your mail address onto my contacts here – and they’ll be in touch if anything comes up.

    Good luck, Nik
