Funding – in these times?!

default-16x9

My client is the same one that I asked for guidance on last year (re ILM/Accreditation). That was very helpful so I'd be grateful if I could ask a more difficult question re Funding! For a new business initative on Team Leader Development across the business, rather than site specific, they have asked if I know if there is any Government or other, funds applicable or relevant for this engagement with my business. On first investigation it appears that there are 'apprenticeship' schemes (Learning and Skills council) and also Government money targeted at specific sectors (eg motor manufacturing) but as yet my early digging round hasn't unearthed anything that may be applicable to a large public company that is basically a large stockholder and processor of a building commodity. Can anybody help? Regards and thanks Jonathan Buck

  1. Funding
I’m tempted to ask why I (and everyone else) should be expected to subsidise the training needs of a large public company….I mean, I feel it’s unlikely they’ll be sending me a cheque to help me out with my fact finding tour of the Seychelles project any time soon.

However, there is money available under the Train to Gain scheme and this does cover higher skills level in some areas – so you could check that out locally. You could also check if increasing management level skills is a target for your regional development agency (it is in my region), in which case there may be some finance or direct training provision available.

    Regards

    Cathy

  2. Funding – in these times
Train to Gain is probably your best bet to try and secure some funding for your client. They have upto £1000 of funding available for
    leadership and management training.
There is usually a company employee size criteria (up to 250) so you may need to check this…..

  3. Thanks
    Thanks Cathy
I totally concur with your comments.
I was somewhat taken aback at the client’s request myself but said I would endeavour to research if there were funds available.
    Thanks for your help
    regards
    Jonathan
