‘Getting the Message Across’

default-16x9

We are having increasing difficulties getting across to all our 3,500 staff what 'goes on' as well as current issues in our personnel and training department. We do have a monthly publication coving all company interests which is distributed to all our sites across the south west but staff are reluctant to read it as it is seen as just another 'company publication'. Does anyone have any other ideas/hints/tips/cheats of 'message vehicles' that you have used successfully in your business? Please.

  1. Wallpaper message
We suggest that as the staff are using the current messaging service as’wallpaper’ they have ceased to see it. With 3500 to get impact and to relay messages effectively group networks are about the only way forward. Each group should be no larger than 25-30 people and have a ‘gatekeeper’ who works on a rota basis to isolate items and highlight them and take control of recirculating the ‘must haves’to the group. From your descrption there seems to be management rather then staff ‘ownership’ of the organisation intelligence so that needs to alter first.

An intranet newsletter that involves personal as well as corporate stories would also be good but depends on time being allocated to maintain and that is almost always a problem. Are staff given time to read the items? That combined with some of the above could be the answer.
