Lifelong learning is the idea that learning is not confined to the formal years of education (in the western world at least, approx. five to 20 years old, with a few years leeway). After school or university when the professional career starts, the opportunities to learn are still available, either officially through corporate CPD programmes or unofficially through personal learning networks, driven primarily by social technology.
