I'm currently undertaking some resesrch for a project on Graduate Training. The main objective is to ensure they can make the transition from University to a Corporate Environment where understanding common goals and relating to a Company ethos is important. Also understanding there is a need to act and react with others in such a way to achieve a better end result. How would you structure a programme to achieve these objectives and what mix of activities and reviewing tactics would be useful?

Experience of Graduate Training Programmes
I have experience of graduate training programmes for a major multi-site organization. The 18 month programme for 30 graduates commenced with 3 day induction which involved workshops on a communication, learning & development and innovation and teamwork together with presentations from Snr Managers on business/organisation. Followed by a programme of on the job training, classroom activities raising commercial awareness at business school and outdoor team and self awareness development. It was also based around team projects which were chosen by the businesses and presented to the Chief Exec and his snr directors at the end of the 18 months. I can forward a sample of the programme which was linked to organisational competencies giving details of topics covered to your e-mail address if you wish. The programme eases graduates into the business environment gradually with the help of a snr manager as their mentor.
