It's a little bit funny, this feeling inside. (Now why did those words spring to mind? Oh I don't know, but I wish I could remember.) It's one of those occasions when you know that you know something but it won't quite come back to you. Some people call it "being on the tip of your tongue". It's like knowing the face ... but remembering the name is impossible.
The fact is though, that the memory is a vital tool for everyday life, and certainly pretty useful in the workplace. If you're like me though, the old grey matter can certainly let you down just when you need it most. Like the time I was in Manchester and got the call from the MD's secretary in London asking whether I would make it to the strategy meeting five minutes early as the board were running ahead. My presentation was due in half an hour.
If that's the type of event that haunts you, you'd be interested in reading an article in the Guardian's Workunlimited section called, (what was it?) - Sorry ... I've completely forgotten
And what happened with my presentation? Darned if I can remember!
