default-16x9

Each week TrainingZONE features a questionnaire completed by one of our members. This week its the turn of Mike Taylor, Director of Interaction Learning and Development.

Mike Taylor

Name: Mike Taylor.

Position: Director of Interaction Learning and Development.

How did you get to your current role? I set the business up as a limited company with two colleagues in 1995, and grew it from there with lots of commitment and support along the way.

What are the best and worst aspects of your role?
Best: On programmes, I get to meet a wide range of people who I wouldn't normally come into contact with, and learn things I would otherwise be ignorant of. With clients, I get to work with optimistic people who are doing their utmost to make a positive difference in what they do, which is very inspiring and motivating. At Interaction I work with a fantastic group of people, I get to do what I do best and am valued for it, and most of all, I enjoy the blend of humanity, professionalism and challenge in our office.
Worst:Ironing my clothes and sitting in traffic (honestly).

What is your most over-used phrase? Apparently, it is "in many ways".

What is your most hated buzzword? Blended learning.

What is the best lesson you have learnt? Change is about becoming yourself.

What has been your best career moment so far? Leaving university and going to work at Celmi (my first job in management training in Wales) for £50-a-week plus caravan.

What has been your worst training moment? Falling backwards off my chair during a moment of great facilitator gravitas with a group. It cheered them up no end.

What will be the next big thing for training? There never has been, nor will there ever be a "big thing".
