How much do businesses spend on training per year?

default-16x9

Hi all,

Does anyone have any good resources on the average annual training spending figures?

I'm ideally looking for the figures over a number of years to get an idea of the increases/decreases in spend. I'm sure bersin/brandon hall have done research on this but i think it'd be a bit too in depth!

Aside from pointing me in the right direction, how much does your company spend in a year? How does that compare with previous years?

Many thanks in advance,

Louis

  1. Training Spend Research

    Hi

I would recommend having a look at the research section of the CIPD. They conduct annual research on a variety of topics including avergae training spend and average training days per head. The research is written as such that you don’t have to trawl through the papers in order to get the information you need.

    Hope this helps

  2. Type of organisation

It might also be worth considering the type of organisation as this will undoubtedly be influential.  I have worked for financial services companies where approx 99% of training was developed and delivered internally at relatively little (direct) cost. Whereas now I work in manufacturing where we outsource about 75% of training due to the highly specialised training we need to deliver.  A lot of it comes from manufacturers and other specialist bodies who deliver training we simply couldn’t develop in-house for logistical reasons.

If you contact me directly I am happy to give you our figures in more detail.
