Today I am at Skillsoft Perspectives an event for SkillSoft customers. We just had a panel discussion with a range of L&D managers. One of the questions from the floor was about how to bring users back to elearning content. Here are the answers . . .
- Give the learner content and then tell me what to do with it - application is key.
- Learning content needs to be well written and interactive and well structured.
- Business alignment of the content - so users see how it will benefit them and the business.
- Immediately apply the learning so it has direct benefit in job - just in time or see how it can be applied on the job later on.
- Need to get users to make a conscious decision to go to the learning content.
- Educate users where to find the content.
- Market the elearning content and service.
- Educate users in how to use the elearning content.
- Involve the manager - and ensure the users understand their learner journey.
- If the content is easy to find and it worked then it will help bring users back.
- Make the experience enjoyable - it helps.
- Competition and leaderboards can drive engagement with the content.
