I've been contacted by a company that wants to buy one of my short courses for unlimited internal use with their 220+ staff. I usually charge £1200 for designing and delivering the course, and would run it about 15 times up and down the country to cover the company. In this case they have their own training team and want full use of the content without time limit. I've always resisted selling off my course content but this time it is tempting. But how do I price it? All suggestions very welcome!

Costing
Do you think that any conflict could occur re ownership if you needed to run this course for someone else, Might you consider £10-£15 per user head, for a two year licence. Perhaps you might also add in an overall annual maintenence charge if appropriate.
Good luck

Course Pricing
I charge £350 per course for companies to run my one day simulations and find no pressure to reduce the cost.
So, based on your numbers you could charge something like this per course or £25 to £30 per delegate.
What about copyright?
You should think very carefully about the company or their staff publishing or using the course without your permission. Look at the business issues. How long would it take to develop your next course and what are the costs involved? It would seem that for a one day course 200-300 pounds per use would buy time for your further development.
How would you price this?
Many thanks for those helpful suggestions. I will ensure the materials are not for exclusive use of the company concerned (they have not requested this) and will write a licence specifying “internal use only” and will price per person/2 years. If I come across any issues I will let you know. Thanks again.
