Implications of the internet for e-learning/distance learning

default-16x9

I need implications of using the internet for e-learning/distance learning from a student/tutor/teacher prospective. I have a small report to write and would like examples, links, webpages, articles etc.

Please help if you can.

  1. A couple of good websites
    Lynn

You should find a considerable amount of info on the following websites:

    http://www.brandon-hall.com/
    http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/10/wwtraining/elearning/

Both are US based but have a fairly broad perspective and carry articles from several sources. Also the home pages for the big US suppliers (smartforce.com, ninthhouse.com and digitalthink.com) may help.
If you want any more specifics feel free to contact me on “peter@cumpstey.freeserve.co.uk” or 07798-710658 (I run a business specialising in conversion of face2face training into web or CDrom eLearning for large co.s or smaller/independent trainers).

  2. The Worlds Leading E-Learning
It was good to see that Peter mentioned Smartforce, the worlds leading e-Learning provider. Smartforce are our strategic partner and if you would like any information on the product/serivce they provide, the delivery options, (Internet, Intranet, Cyber Cafe etc) or a no obligation demonstration of the courses, please let me know by telephoning us on 01423 546958 or by visiting our website at http://www.pdc-online.co.uk

  3. Education through e-learning
    Hi Lynn

I’ve got a short powerpoint presentation (with notes) that I can pass on to you if it helps – it gives you some general background info on what e-learning is; rise in popularity; the benefits; getting started and making it a success. Please just mail me at acasey@videoarts.co.uk if you would like me to send you a copy.

Good news, some of us who have spent just as much time over the last few years developing methodology that commands executive support within organisaitons have woken up to the reality that innovative products make but a small contribution (probably about 40%towards delivering whatcould ever be described as the well worn out term “e-learning solution!”

  5. Thesis
I am a MBA student writing a thesis on how internet impact distance learning. I am doing a forecast on it and would need some historical statistic data. I would like to know if anyone who know where and how to get this kind of information? Thank you.
