Institute of Science Technology Annual Conference

Theme: "NVQs/SVQs and competency markers into the New Millennium."

The Institute of Science Technology is pleased to announce its forthcoming Annual Conference. The theme this year is "NVQ/SVQs and competency markers into the New Millennium". The meeting will be held at Stowe House in Lichfield, Staffs. on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th April 2000.

Three speakers have agreed to contribute on Thursday.

James Holyfield, Vocational Qualifications in Science, Engineering and Technology. Title "Managing the risks that undermine the quality of NVQs/SVQs."

Bill McNichol, Science, Technology and Mathematics Council.

Prof. Simon Roodhouse, University Vocational Awards Council.

The Friday will be given to Open Space Technology, allowing delegates to set their own agenda.

Prof. Nancy Rothwell has agreed to present the Millennium Lecture.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for delegates from Awarding Bodies, NTOs, Industry and Higher, Further and Secondary Education to network.

The format allows all personnel involved in NVQ/SVQ or competency based staff development to benefit. This includes Trainers, Assessors, Internal Verifiers and Candidates. Officers from the IST will be available throughout the meeting to offer help, if needed, on all aspects of NVQ/SVQ. Following the Institute's accreditation as a VQSET Service Provider, there will be Officers available to give advice and guidance to VQSET registered centres or those considering registration.

Costs for the two-day meeting are £190.00 (£170.00 for IST members). This will include meeting notes, one night accommodation, lunches, refreshments and meeting dinner. Delegate day rate is available.
