IPD reveals first glimpse of new corporate image

Tucked away on page 64 of the current issue of People Management magazine is the first sighting we've come across of the new corporate image for the Institute of Personnel and Development.

The change became necessary when the IPD was granted Chartered status earlier this year and is due to be unveiled on 1 July when the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development is officially re-launced. The IPD bought the cipd.co.uk domain name in anticipation of the event. The new www.cipd.co.uk web address works but is a mirror image of the existing IPD front page and defaults you back to the existing site.

The short article - which we've not been able to find online unfortunately, describes how the new logo was created. A dark blue square with two rounded corners carries the white letters 'icpd' in a modern lower-case sans-serif font. The letter 'i' is surmounted by a yellow starburst explosion: "The spark represents inspiration, creativity and contribution of our members - and a hint of celebration too" says Anna Reece, head of communications at the IPD
