The Institute of Personnel and Development (IPD) is about to become the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
The announcement of the new chartered status, formally granted by the Privy Council, was announced this week and comes after more than a year's work by the Institute to obtain a higher level of recognition for the professional work undertaken by its members. The move was supported by an overwhelming majority of the members.
The IPD sees this development as a placing the Institute in the 'premier league' of professional bodies.
The official launch will occur on 1 July, by which time new logos and branding will have been developed - an expensive undertaking for an organisation the size of the Institute.
No news report yet on the IPD website that I can find, but no doubt there will be one soon.
