On many occassions I have been asked which proefessional organisations I belong and some seem to think that there is an organisation specifically for trainers rather than the broad spectrum of HR.

Institute of IT Training
Dear Ann,
Unfortunately you do not state what type of training you specialise in.
Professional trainers specialising in IT related subject areas are specifically served by the Institute of IT Training. Further information is available from their website at: http://www.iitt.org.uk/

Federation of Independent Training Providers
You might want to have a look at a new body that has been established in the wake of the ILA fiasco to represent independents, the Federation of Independent Training Providers:

It’s not an Institute, but looks as if it could be a useful body to join. I think the ILA problems made a lot of trainers feel that they had no organisation to represent them and their needs to government, and this is an attempt to remedy the situation.
