Big news for the IT industry this week when it was announced that
Hewlett Packard are set to do a take over deal with Compaq worth
£17 billion – this will put them in direct competition with IBM.
CompTIA have decided to change the format of the A+
certification. Douglas Alexander, minister for e-commerce, has
shown the Government’s support to the UK software industry. A
website will be set up which offers international business and
export advice to the software industry and computer services
sector – exciting times for the industry are ahead.

HP takeover Compaq
Hewlett Packard are set to take over Compaq in a £17bn deal which
will make them one of the largest IT companies in the world.

CompTIA change A+ format
The A+ certification is due to be restructured at the end of the
month by CompTIA.

New export website for software centre given the green light
Douglas Alexander, E-commerce minister, has voiced his support of
the UK software industry by approving a website dedicated to
assisting the sector to fulfil it’s export potential.

Global expansion of e-learning
E-learning spending estimated to increase to 23 billion USD by
2004, reports the IDC.
