IT Training and Assessment

IT and Oracle Training

Due to restructuring of the business and IT teams, end user IT training will no longer be done by the IT Team, so the Sales Consultants will be trained by the Sales Training Team, of which I'm considered the most IT literate therefore it's now my project. Having observed some of the training, it is obvious that the differing skill level causes most of the problems, so the first thing i'd like to implement is an practical assessment rather written self-assessment, ideally the assessment will cover speed of use as well as ability - does anyone know of anything to this effect?

In addition, does anyone know if government funded projects/training exist in order to boost IT literacy (in the case of a new recruit that has no IT experience)?

Finally, the business is implementing Oracle through a dedicated team, again, after the full launch the delivery of this will be left with our team. The currently training structure looks very classroom intensive and long - any ideas as the first port of call to begin implementing a distance learning, self learning or e-learning programme?

Just looking for ideas and starting points, and any advice will be fantastic as this the first proper IT training venture for Sales Trainer like myself

Thanks
Rob Pardon

There are 3 main threads to your problem (sorry, challenge!) 🙂
Assessing and delivering against the varying skills in the Sales team
Meeting the IT Training needs of new recruits
Finding a solution to your Oracle training needs.

There’s quite a bit to cover here and a number of options – if you’d like to contact me I’d be happy to discuss and point you at some ideas/solutions based on my own experiences.

    Hi Rob

Firstly good luck with your new training venture.

With regards to the Oracle training I would recommend speaking to Oracle direct. They run elearning programmes in addition to the classroom courses.

Our company is an Oracle reseller so please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want any advice.

    Kind regards
