ITOL CELEBRATES FIRST BIRTHDAY
The Institute of Training and Occupational Learning has just celebrated its first birthday. Launched in February 2000 to promote the development and professional standing of people engaged in the fields of training, assessment and vocational education, it now has members in virtually every sector of UK industry, commerce and academia.
ITOL Director Jeffrey Brooks comments:
"We are delighted with our achievements over the past year. Our membership base has grown strongly, our Journal is now well established and into its second volume, our Certificate and Diploma qualifications in Training & Occupational Learning are close to launch and our new Glossary of UK Training and Occupational Learning Terms has been published to critical acclaim. We have recently developed a new public website at http://www.traininginstitute.co.uk which contains much of interest to members of our profession and its 'World of Training' live news feed is proving especially popular. Our private members-only website at http://www.itol.co.uk has developed into five separate forums covering members discussions, news from ITOL, book reviews, special discounts on books and conferences, and an electronic library containing over 100 training and learning articles. We are particularly pleased about the range of our membership. There is no such thing as a typical ITOL member - our membership reflects the diversity of the profession - and within our ranks you will find Learning Directors, Training Instructors, Professors, Training Designers, Lecturers, Consultants and Training Managers.
We have achieved a great deal in the last 12 months, but there is still much to do. Training and occupational learning needs to be moved up the national agenda and we intend that ITOL should be part of such change. To do so will demand more of our resources so there is no room for any relaxation - the next twelve months could be even more hectic than the last!"
