Jamie Oliver’s workplace learning is recipe for success

default-16x9

Staff at Jamie Oliver's restaurant, Fifteen Cornwall are benefitting from a new training scheme created through a partnership between national qualification provider NCFE and Evolution Personal and Corporate Development.

The NCFE-accredited 'Train the Trainer' workshops have been developed to equip the chefs and front-of-house management team with the skills and knowledge needed to carry out effective workplace learning.

The award looked at a range of key issues including the importance of identifying training needs, understanding training styles, rapport building with trainees, communication skills, questioning techniques and validating and evaluating the training.

"We were looking for a qualification which would allow our staff to have the advanced skills and knowledge needed to effectively train the young people that we work with," said Polly Dent, general manager at Fifteen Cornwall.

"The three-day 'Train the Trainer' workshop was perfect for us as it was delivered in the workplace, covered all the key elements and staff were able to learn a range of new skills. This has ensured that our trainees get the best opportunity possible to build a career path within the industry," she said.
