Kieran Duignan

default-16x9

I have been working as a coach for over 15 years. My general aim in coaching is to support intelligent design and management of organisational change, personal change and behavioural risks affecting health, safety and stress at work.

My preferred approach includes

  • negotiating agreement about behavioural goals clients want to achieve
  • introducing principles of 'solutions talk' and of 'appreciative inquiry'
  • selectively offering repertory and other grids, as well as psychometric tools within coaching, especially to encourage reframing of relationships
  • facilitating clients to conceive and test solutions until they are satisfied their problem is resolved or dissolved.

My experience as a coach lies in these areas

  • performance improvement of managers and project leaders
  • stagnation, development and transformation of professionals and managers
  • career issues including decision-making, 'hot' networking, and responding to stereotyping
  • adaptation and rehabilitation after a traumatic event, e.g. road accident, personal assault, mid-air collision
  • cultural adaptations facing expatriates, repatriates and immigrants (first and second-generation) within dominant and minority communities

My research interests in relation to coaching include the underlying psychological models of the person and society, appropriate use of humour and emotion, and effective interface design and management.

I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a Fellow of the CIPD and the RSA, a member of The Ergonomics Society, the Psychological Society of Ireland and the World Futures Society.

A chartered psychologist, I have degrees in psychology, ergonomics and economics; and diplomas in management consultancy, counselling, career guidance and distance learning. Registered at Level 2 (Full) on the BPS Register of Competence in Occupational Testing and with all leading test publishers in the U.K.
