Language tools win Software Satisfaction Award

Corporate Language Training, a page of executive language courses developed by Digital Publishing, was the surprise winner of this year’s Software Satisfaction Award for Learning software.

The move to more interactive learning materials has opened the SSA door to authors, and a large number of users logged into our online survey to cast their votes for Corporate Language Training. All three branches of learning software were represented in the shortlist, Atlantic Link’s Content Point authoring system and Harbiner’s Raptivity also gaining nominations.
Elsewhere in the awards, the iCIMS Talent Platform won the award for Talent Management, a category that did not attract a massive response this year, confirming Josh Bersin’s theory that rather than stimulating interest in talent management, the recession has triggered a short term slump. The web-based 360-degree appraisal system Carbon360 was the other shortlisted supplier in this category.
The mainstream HR software categories were also notable for the successes of web-based developers Octopus HR (small business HR) and Cascade HR (enterprise HR). Sage’s SnowdropKCS HR application and Select HR were shortlisted in these categories.
Software companies and commentators continue to emphasise the need for strategic learning that aligns itself to corporate goals. Let’s hope we’ve seen the worst of the talent management slump and that more trainers and HR managers will look at and implement integrated tools to bring some new names forward in next year’s awards.
Elsewhere, CRM supplier Salesforce.com was named “Software Vendor of the Year” after picking up four prizes at the ceremony in London. Full details are available from the Software Satisfaction Awards website.
