Throughout a variety of centres in Britain the new government initiative in partnership with the University for Industry (UfI) and LearnDirect will be launched aiming at those people who wish to get back into learning through the Internet. This is offering people the chance of learning in a flexible way at any one of the learning centres around the country or at home.
There are a variety of courses offered free of charge on a first-come first-served basis over the next two days at approximately 150 centres throughout the UK. These centres can range from local schools, colleges, libraries and some community centres, specialist training centres, some larger organisations and it has even been rumoured that a well-known supermarket will eventually have an access point for the bored shopper!
Pilot courses have already been undertaken mainly in the South of England and the main promotion for this initiative is to take place next month.
These courses are aimed at those over the age of 16 and there are currently 250 different courses to choose from ranging from basic skills in literacy and numeracy through to introductory or expert skill level courses in software packages including web-design.
The majority of these courses are aimed at the individual, however there are some that are available for the small to medium size business. Access to this training material can be gained either through the Internet, using CD-ROM, Videos or books.
To obtain further information or locate your nearest Learning Centre either telephone 0800 100 900 or visit the web-site at www.learndirect.co.uk. TrainingZONE is hoping to bring you an exclusive interview with the UfI in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
