As the UfI initiative rolls out across the country, the learnDirect website - which forms a key gateway to increased participation in learning - has been redesigned and moved to a new address.
The revamped site offers three main services:
Find a course displays a database of 300 courses provided by learnDirect covering all experience levels, from absolute beginners right through to advanced, covering a wide range of subject areas: Information Technology, basic skills, business and management skills.
Advice Centre The learnDirect advice centre offers comprhensive information to visitor going along to their nearest centre. If you are thinking about a new job, then you can check out what is involved, and the skills you need. If you are thinking about taking a course check out the things to bear in mind in getting the right course for you.
Support In this section of the learndirect site you will find useful information on how to support your learning and hear about how learning has changed other people’s lives. It covers such issues as childcare, financial support, and individual case studies.
learnDirect offers a range of ways of engaging in learning including over the internet, at home, at work, at a local learnDirect centre, etc.
It's clear that the range of courses will expand rapidly as UfI cements its partner arrangements, and local learning centres are opened around the centre. The existing telephone call centre for advice on learning and courses remains open on the national freephone number 0800 100 900.
