One of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the L&D calendar both in the UK and abroad, the Learning Awards have been around in various guises since 1997. Since their inception the training industry has expanded and diversified, just as the institute itself has, and more than a decade on they're more popular than ever, with a record number of entries this year.
Would anyone retain their crown? Who would be the new kids on the block, the ones to watch for 2012 and beyond? Who would get the much-coveted Colin Corder award for outstanding contribution to training? Well, all the results are here. TZ was judging the training department of the year (public sector) award, which after some deliberation was awarded to Avon and Somerset Constabulary who admirably mobilised - and modernised - the force's training programme up against the twin obstacles of red tape and data security. Well done chaps.
Elsewhere, learning provider QA scooped the 'Apprenticeship Programme of the Year' award. QA’s success is particularly timely as it coincides with National Apprenticeship Week (6-10 Feb) which is seeing organisations across England celebrate the value that apprenticeships bring to businesses and young people.
Aside from congratulating all the winners, posing with glamorous host Sharron Davies MBE, and promising ourselves that next year we'd lose enough weight to fit into a size 16" shirt, we also caught up with some of the judges, nominees and the host herself to record a vox pops. Have a look beneath, and roll on next year.
