The UK is recognised as a world leader in developing partnerships between education and business. The Learning City Network builds on this expertise to develop the first learning partnerships between cities and communities.
The objective of this expanding group of cities is to make sure that all their citizens share in the benefits of a learning society. Only cities that have learning populations will thrive in the future as the UK competes in the global market for jobs.
Founded in 1995 the Learning City Network has grown from its original founder members - Milton Keynes, Hull, Derby, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Norwich, Liverpool - to involve more than 20 UK cities and communites.
Further information about Learning Cities - what they are, how they work, and how they support each other can be found on their page on the Lifelong Learning website.
