Objectives

There is a difference between personal opinions and professional opinions. I would ask people to back up there assertions. Ultimately, in my professional opinion, I think there is only one answer to this and it is: it depends. There is no set benchmark as to how many objectives you should have over a particular time period. They answer should come from the TNA and the degree of difficulty in achieving a particular objective.
If the behavioural learning objective is to be able to correctly specific the three components of Adair’s theory of leadership without reference to notes. I would make it ‘by the end of the session’. If it is a transfer of learning work objective and is about acheiving a 15% increase in a particular target, I might be inclined to give it several months.
If you are covering three key topic areas in a morning then you might have three, or more, objectives. As I say, it depends.
