This week, we'll be making our annual trip to Harrogate for the
CIPD conference and exhibition. While the conference retains
its focus on 'people mean business' from last year, it'll be
interesting to see whether those speaking at the conference and
attending the show feel anything has really changed in the last
12 months. Issues relating to HR's role in the workplace are
becoming a regular topic at these events, with much talk of the
need for HR to secure a place at the boardroom table and the
importance of adding value, something which regular readers of
this wire will know is becoming a much-talked about subject in
the training and development world also.
One of the initiatives often seen as a key marker for companies
looking to show 'added value' is Investors in People, but does
