Learning logs revisited
-----------------------
TrainingZone is a consistent fan of learning logs and learning portfolios as a strongly recommended way of encouraging reflection whilst capturing your continuous professional development. This article by Peter Honey in the current issue of Training Journal and republished on his own website describes Peter's involvement in a recent learning log initiative in Buckinghamshire. No great surprises in the findings, but some helpful pointers towards introducing and maintaining a system of recording learning.

Top Team games by e-mail
------------------------
GNP, creators of Top Team 2000, are to launch a ground-breaking publication on the Internet, which they are calling an 'idea-zine.' Hate the coinage / neologism, like the idea...

Leadership vs. management
-------------------------
The debate on the nature of 'leadership' and its relation to 'managing' goes on, both here in the UK and in the States. HRzone has a long excerpt from a study on executive development sponsored by six major American corporations and global participants such as Apple, the BBC, BP Amoco, British Airways, HSBC, IBM, KPMG Peat Marwick,the University of Warwick.....

Recent Product Reviews
======================
Several practical titles are reviewed on TrainingZone this week, all of which are well described by their titles. 'Making the Most of your Time' is a short publication by Julie-Ann Amos which offers helpful time management advice. 'Organisational Learning for Front Line Managers' is a new resource from Fenman written by Christine Chun with lots of help for new managers. 'How to be an Online Tutor' by Julia Duggleby is published this month by Gower and provides a concise introduction to the topic with plenty of information for trainers who are novice internet users. We anticipate a flood of similar titles in the year ahead; there is a particular need to develop practical strategies which go beyond those in this book.

Did you miss the Learning Technologies 2000 exhibition in London last week? Russell Holt, our online learning director was there, and offers his reactions in a Reviews article.
