Life Coaching – why qualify
There are 2 acreditations that I know of; – The British Coaching Academy and Lifecoach UK. May I suggest that these sort of qualifications are viewed with an open mind as I and two collegues have each used a “qualified” coach (undertaking competitor analysis) and all were dissapointing. Their intentions were exemplary and their acreditation valid but…. Life coaching is an up and coming endevoure that is begining to achieve some professional credibility but runs the risk of being populated by people thinking its an easy way af making money which will cheepen the acreditation. You don’t need to have a qualification to be a Life coach, you do need amongst other characteristics, empathy and integrity. That said, all the best.

Dear Jan
Check out CoachU.com. It’s a US based coaching university which has spawned a number of great coaches. Through it, you can link up with the UKCoachlist (of which I am a member)and network with oodles of other coaches in the UK. A few from other parts of the world are on there too. There is also the International Coaching Federation which, while it does not do training itself, accredits you, much as the British Association of Counselling or other professional body might.
CoachU also has a number of freebies, such as Top Ten lists, Coaching Tips, Daily Distinctions, and others. It is a wonderful place to find stuff out. While I do coaching, it is not my main source of income, but I find it tremendously rewarding. I call it my “soul food.” More dynamic than counselling, and individually geared, you do get to find out what happens to people!
Once you begin coaching, let me know, and I’ll get you hooked up to the UK coachlist.
