I have been recently offered a post in Bangalore, India which will be a mixture of Training and Development, Quality Assurance and Operational Excellence within a Contact Centre environment.
I am trying to find out as much as possible about working conditions, lifestyle, cultural challenges etc; particluarly with regard to how the local staff may react to more Western training approaches. I am also keen to know what the city of Bangalore is like to live in.
If anyone has any experience, it would be great to hear from you.
Many thanks
Alistair Gordon

Bangalore is what you make it
I live in Dubai UAE and have conducted training and been on courses also in India and especially Bangalore.
People are very welcoming and tend to see you as an “expert” so avoid confrontation. They have been formally taught and often want/expect spoonfeeding – so gently into the high expectations on group work. Create a safe environment and fun atmosphere (people love games) and you will be fine.
Bangalore has had a property, silicon valley growth pattern and is seen as the leader in entrepreneurship and there are good trtainers based there. There are a growing number of Europeans and many from Dubai visiting also but the local people will be overwhelmingly hospitable. There are a hotch potch of religions so learn from names what they may be and learn the customs and taboos from each religion re food, body language etc and you’ll be fine.
Welcome to Dubai if you want to do some shopping!

You will learn from them
Great people who work hard and recognise the value of training. Will consider you an expert so make sure you know your stuff. My own experience was enriched by the students eagerness to learn, their early arrival and late departure from the course and their incredible warmth. You will learn plenty from them about loyalty, diligence and family values.
Life in Bangalore

I loved it there when we stayed for a month delivering NLP Training a couple of years ago. Happy to talk further if you call me on 01326 212959, or email elizabethmpritchard@talk21.com
