Linking diversity initiatives

An article by Bill Leonard in the June issue of HR Magazine explores issues and solutions in creating workplace diversity. -

"While most employers embrace the idea of maintaining a culturally diverse workplace, many have found that it's tough to develop workplace diversity programs that produce tangible results.

"All employers are struggling to find innovative ways to recruit and hire minorities and women," says Jonathan M. Stutz, SPHR, program manager, corporate diversity for Microsoft Corp. in Redmond, Wash. "Because of the high demand for skilled workers, high-tech companies have an even tougher job finding minority and female job candidates."
Because of that need, a group of employers and professional associations in Seattle have teamed up, to their mutual benefit.

And they believe they have found the answer to promoting and supporting a truly diverse workforce. Says Stutz: "We have a solution that works."
